Aid to Ukraine

HOPE587 has been working with Luda, who runs the organization
Cerebral Parales since 1999. Together, we help children and young people with disabilities in Kiev as there is no social security net for them in Ukraine. HOPE587 compensates all the costs Cerebral Parales has since they themselves have no financial opportunities, but only their good will to help people in need.

Luda makes home visits where one or more children have a disability. Each year she sees around 500 families. She mainly shares food packages, as many can’t afford food.

Luda works with a team consisting of adults with disabilities. They help her while shopping and handing out food packages, but also when the organization has gatherings. The gatherings are an opportunity for fellowship and also a free meal.

When Luda makes home visits, she often sees many urgent needs. It can vary from families who can not afford to buy diapers to homes where the apartment has become almost uninhabitable and needs to be sanitized.

Ukraine is far from being adapted for the disabled and, therefore, it is also generally necessary to always have someone who can carry a person with a disability, for him or her to be able to move from one place to another. In order not to be completely isolated, many depend on the support that Luda's team provides.

Many may stay in their apartments, although they can not always pay rent, this is because the authorities do not want more homeless people. In terms of electricity, it's always necessary to pay for it; otherwise, it will be shut down. So, therefore, many people live in very cold apartments.

This is how we help

• Those who are sick receive food and medicines.

• At Christmas and Easter, most home visits are made to those who have never been outside their apartment.

• Holidays are celebrated with a gathering and a free meal.

• People with disabilities get help with self-help by working as employees in Cerebral Parales.

• Every week, children, young people, and parents gather for Bible studies and a meal. Also once a month, the opportunity to go to New Life Church in Kiev is offered.

• Through the Ukrainian aid organization Leauge, HOPE587 can provide Cerebral Parales with aids, clothes and other supplies.

In addition to this, many extra efforts are made for families who are extremely affected by poverty.

Examples of how your gift is used

For $ 3, you give someone a free meal at one of the gatherings.

For $ 5, you pay for a child or her parent to receive dental care from a mobile dental team.

For $ 5, you pay a doctor's visit from a mobile medical team.

For $ 15, you donate a food package.

For $ 30, you give employment for a month to an adult with a disability.

Camp activities

During the years HOPE587 has had many camps, both in Ukraine and also in Sweden. In the summer of 2017, we had a camp in Hallaryd. Hallaryd is a small town located in southern Sweden, about two miles from Älmhult. The camp participants were from the organization Cerebral Pares in Kiev, Ukraine.
